Only regulates native feline species, the bobcat, lynx and
cougar. Issues permits for Protected Mammals and Game Farming. Import Permit is
required for out of state acquisition. Felines must be purchased from state licensed
or other legal sources. Applicants must possess adequate knowledge of species,
provide a fenced area of sufficient size to contain animals, have clean facilities,
healthy food and provide veterinary care. Facilities may be inspected by DNR officer.
Cougars are considered a protected species, so this permit is required for them
also. This state doesn't regulate exotic felines but many counties have enacted
ordinances to cover possession.

Important Notice
Every effort has been made
to ensure that this information is accurate, and appropriate contact information has been included for each state.
The LIOC-Endangered Species Conservation Federation strongly urges you contact the various state agencies personally,
to verify that no new laws have been passed, before you proceed with any transactions. We cannot be held responsible
should you fail to follow state laws. This is only a brief summary, offered as a service to our members. In many cases, the
actual laws are quite long and involved.
Also, many counties and cities have enacted regulations, which means that even
if the state law allows for the possession of wild felines, the county or city might have passed ordinances against such activities.
Therefore you have to check with each agency before you proceed with ownership or sales.
